Embassy FC's Cup run continues with a seemingly favorable draw against Division 2 GUTS SC.
However just like the FA Cup, we should always be wary of match ups where we expect ourselves to be better. Especially as in the Cup the teams can turn out to be very different from the league -- Nepal FC beating Sala last year with a rather unusual fully Japanese line up.
GUTS produced a shocker beating Swiss 2 - 1 early in the season. Although at this time Swiss were seemingly a much weaker team than they are after the break.
Following that they beat Shane FC 4 - 0, who Lions just recently beat in the league. GUTS own league form is interesting because they began poorly but recently went on a 3 game winning streak putting 7 past Real Celts, only to finally lose 1 - 3 to Musketeers.
In terms of balance they drew 2 - 2 against SUNS who we beat 5 - 1. Despite all this GUTS have only 2 league wins and a draw putting them 2nd last in Division 2 and most goal scored against them.
Ultimately we don't care about GUTS. BEFC focus on playing their own game regardless of the opposition, and this is important.
We should never react and alter our tempo and speed to an opponent. Regardless of GUTS' league form, Cup victories this is all about us continuing to play our best game.
