MOM BEFC vs Aoyama - Masayuki Sato

  • BEFC vs Syu Syu Aoyama MOM - Masayuki Sato

After a decent shift at right back in Shinagawa and then brief cameo vs Jets at left back we thought that Sato might actually do well as a fullback. Coming on to stifle a very threatening and fleet footed Syu Syu Aoyama attack, Sato impressed to the degree that afterwards it was said 'he didn't put a foot wrong'. Based on such a strong plaudit, work rate, shutting down their wingers and a great covering slide tackle later in the game Masayuki Sato is the BEFC Man of the Match. And very likely has earned himself new position in the squad over his preferred place as a striker.

Syu Syu was a tough game, and they are a very good passing and movement team. You can see by the amount of goals they have. Their first goal was probably the best free kick I have seen to be honest. Recently we've been on the end of some serious miracle shots, and we went down in a shakey second part of the first half. After that we looked good again, and it really does show that if we are going to set our sights on promotion next season, we need a strong core midfield that we can't change up against decent opposition. What we've learnt (or should know by now) is there is such a fine line between teams in Division 2, that even a small shift in balance makes a big difference. Syu Syu's pass and move style is very nice, and I think it is something that we can work on too for our attacking style, as we definitely have the players for it and our nice plays are similar. We just have to remember that in terms of our squad we are still very new as a unit. Many players are new this season and others joined halfway through the season.
So the key point is that we have the talent and ability now, and our focus can be on gelling as a team with a regular core.
Roll on Sala!!
