Adecco MOM BEFC vs Vagabonds - Timothy Witvliet

  • Adecco BEFC Man of the Match Award - Timothy Witvliet

With some last moment drop-outs and another temporary goalkeeper the match against Vagabonds went exactly as predicted. Lots of sustained pressure against a hard to crack Vagabonds defence, who like to counter or play for territory with thrown-ins and balls in the air. It was about being patient and sticking to the plan, and after an initial stuttered start BEFC's improved movement won a free kick which allowed Nils Simon to open the scoring with some left-footed whippage. Vagabonds play a physical game and it was important that the central midfield kept up a good workrate and aggressive play. A man who always hates to be subbed but plays in the hardest part of the field was making that as difficult as possible. Tim Witvliet didn't stop running the entire game. With strong midfield dominance, tasty link up play and immense effort Witvliet continued the triangle of terror with Säkk and Fushimi formed from the previous victory over JETRO.
Again the overall team play was top shelf, and there were plenty of candidates for the MOM award. However Witvliet's effort level was duly noted with one standout comment about an unrelenting determination to chase down and keep the ball in play by the opposition's corner. One thing Witvliet is known for in futsal and 7s are long range power shots which rack up his goal scoring tally. However it was until this match that his targetting system finally tuned itself into 11s as he hit a stunner late in the second half to kill off the game completely. We all know he has it in his locker but have been waiting for it to explode into life in 11s.

For being the beast of midfield, great link up play and synergy with his surrounding team mates and the much waited for long range sledgehammer of a goal - the Adecco BEFC Man of the Match vs Vagabonds is Timothy Witvliet.
