Adecco MOM BEFC vs BEFC Vagabonds - Kentaro Takahashi

  • Adecco BEFC Man of the Match Award - Kentaro Takahashi

'Could BEFC continue the same form as the performance vs Pumas?' was the question! And they answered in style with another great team performance and fluid football in their 2 - 0 victory over one of the stingiest defences in Division 2. Only two other teams have beaten Vagabonds by more than one goal! And in this match it could have been a lot more. In other big team performances, the picking of Man of the Match has been a close affair but this time the nominations were pretty clear cut. We were used to seeing this regular face in MOM awards -- and recently either everyone else got a lot better, or a dip in form (let's consider the former!) -- one thing was certain, and that Kentaro Takahashi's mojo was back. Involved in the game at all levels of football Kentaro pressed, harassed, covered and tackled bossing all over his side of the pitch. Picking up the ball, he tormented the Vagabonds' defenders with his well feared slick ball control, continually provided link up play and passes with his teammates to create space and holes to open up the Vagabonds' defence. To top that off he got himself the vital second goal that put the game to bed. But it wasn't the goal which earned him the MOM nominations, it was the full display of total football that received the plaudits from all over the team!
This complete performance is why Kentaro Takahashi is Adecco BEFC Man of the Match vs BFC Vagabonds.

This was a great and vital performance against a team that have only been beaten by one goal by all but 3 teams this season (incl us). The opening pressure was brilliant and we kept it up the entire game. We normally create a lot of chances anyway, but this game we made even more, and as part of more extensive moves. Now the last piece will be deciding that moment for the final ball to hit the back of the net, and I think this is coming next.
Lots of good performances and players really understanding how we all fit together into our roles - and again subs interchanging seemlessly. This is a great advantage for us, as we can keep swapping lines, keep the level of quality high and all stay fresh. At the end of the match Vagabonds looked physically shattered, while we still had engines running all over the pitch.
