TML 11 - BEFC 4 : Zion FC 1

  • BEFC va Zion

In the absence of Capt. Ferdy, Ben took over the duties seeking revenge against a Zion team that in the previous match up put BEFC 3-0 in the first 15 minutes before eventually defeating 5 -3 despite a BEFC fight back.
The Todoroki dirt pitch wasn't the best surface for free flowing football and some late absences of defence caused last minute havoc re-arranging the team before kick off.
BEFC were aware of Zions quick attacking style and set up with a 4-1-3-2 using Pounder to float between the CBs and Midfield cutting out their long through ball attempts.
The solidity of the on the spot new defensive line up stifled Zion and shut down their strategy to attack allowing the BEFC midfield to push forward in attack and put them under pressure, with Takanori and Shun controlling the middle of the pitch and releasing Jorge, Tetsuro and Caner on forward runs where they could cut balls back into the strikers.

Against the expected onslaught of Zion attack, Keith 'Fox in the Box' Franklin put BEFC one up after more nice work from the free flowing attack. This only heaped more pressure on Zion to find a way through, and switching tactics tried unsucessfully to find an opening down the wings where they were quickly cancelled out by Ewan and Steve.
While Zion were trying to figure a way in on goal the BEFC attack force continued to relentlessly drive forward scoring two more before half time.

Three - nil down at half time the second half continued much in the same way as Zion still had no answer to unlocking the BEFC defence and the attack carried on pushing forward with more freedom and now including runs from both full backs to overload their defence leading to a weaving silky skills solo goal from Steve.
In the last 10 minutes BEFC were tiring and more interested in getting more goals which allowed Zion the consolation goal. One of their midfielders got free at the top of the box from a corner clearance and the shot found its way through legs and bodies not giving the keeper a chance to see it coming.

All in all a classic BEFC revenge victory against a very good team.
