BEFC TML Player of the Year 2016 - Alo Säkk | British Embassy Football Club, Tokyo Japan (BEFC)

Congratulations Alo Säkk for winning the BEFC TML Futsal Player of the Year 2016. Alo joined midway through the second half of last season, and immediately has made an impact to the team. A beast of midfield, this season Alo has opened up his scoring account striking up a partnership with Kentaro Takahashi setting BEFC'S goal record in scoring more goals in 8 games than all of last season. Since joining 11s Alo quickly became a regular for being voted Man of the Match, so much so that even though deserved he tried to wave away his nominations in order to recognise other players' great play. Alo's attitude and tireless work rate sets an example to those around him on the pitch and comments such as 'Alo been a breath of fresh air for us this season' and to that affect made it no surprise he ran away with the nominations with other 40% of the votes. Not just in TML but also in 7s, Futsal and for beeers afterwards Alo is hugely involved in all BEFC football.

Runner up was a previous Player of the Year and long time BEFC veteran. A modest fellow, his hard work and quality do not go unnoticed, even if he thinks other players might be more deserving. Amongst all the humility it was famously his wife who was surprised when Ewan Walton won Player of the Year in 2014, but it was no surprise that he easily won runner up in 2016 and yes 'he's is actually quite good' ;) Ewan presented the 'Unsung Hero' award as part of the Captain's Awards, the kind of irony that the popular vote for the Player's Unsung Hero was himself!!! Well done mate.

Finally in a hotly contested space for 3rd, goal machine and silky skills aficionado Kentaro Takahashi got the nod. No one can refute his talent and immense effort and passion he puts into every appearance. This season his goal scoring powers have 'Levelled Up' striking up a partnership with Alo Säkk and gelling strongly the new look BEFC attack.
