Adecco MVP BEFC Lions vs King George - Charles Mitchell

  • Adecco MVP BEFC Lions vs King George - Charles Mitchell

BEFC Lions got up bright and early on a sunny Sunday morning to play King George FC.

These games are always enjoyable and well-balanced.

This game saw a debut for left-winger Toshiya Sugiyama, who fit straight into the squad with his impressive play and nice-guy personality.

Mamoru continued to make the left-back position his own, with Mark covering CB along with Masa. Along with Tsukasa who was suffering from awful hayfever and shedding tears all over the pitch, the defence held strong throughout the game constantly denying the fast King George attackers from scoring a goal.

Credit also goes to Yu Sasada for securing a rare clean sheet with some excellent saves.

In midfield, big shoutout goes to Tim for his high-energy pressing. The team nearly scored early in the first half, when Tim, Viran, Akito, Kaz and Charles all combined in attack with flowing moves, but the eventual shots were not on target. Yuta and Baptiste also added to the attacking waves, but still a goal eluded the Lions.

The game seemed like it was ready for a stalemate, with the main talking points being Baptiste’s fashionable version of a linesman uniform (no shirt, but cover the nipples with a backpack), and Richard’s terrible passing accuracy rate.

The goal finally came when Richard seemingly hoofed another wayward pass into the air towards Viran, with the captain giving up before the ball had reached the ground, based on the quality of Richard’s passes that day. However, a flub by the defender allowed Viran to rob the ball and pass to Charles, who chipped the keeper with a shot from 30 yards out.

For becoming the Lions top-scorer in this game, the Adecco MVP for this match is Charles Mitchell.
