Adecco MOM BEFC vs BFC - Naoki Tanabe

  • Adecco BEFC Man of the Match Award - Naoki Tanabe

On an extra chilly sunday night BEFC got to test their metal against the division one quality BFC. It took the opening 20 minutes for Embassy to find themselves, soaking up BFC pressure and trying to gain some fluidity and control in their possession. It might be coincidence but with the introduction of Naoki Tanabe BEFC settled more and started finding their game, getting more control of the ball and threatening BFC. However in the second half BEFC totally outplayed and outworked their opposition, pinning BFC into their own half and sustaining pressure. A really controversial goal for BFC (kicking the ball while in possession of our keeper), didn't phase Embassy whose own equaliser was far more skilled and classy. Being a cup match the final score went to a penalty shoot out, which you could feel BFC was more than happy for, since a goal always looked like it could come for BEFC. However if matches were decided like boxing scores, it would be a unanomous decision for BEFC.

Moved into holding midfield Naoki 'Noki' Tanabe was crucial in providing the control and tempo for BEFC to maintain possession, build play and then open up chains of attack. This linked up the team, who began to click much tighter with their passing and movement continually keeping BFC on the backfoot. It was a great team performance but for his impact and the way his played raised the game of his teamates Naoki Tanabe is Adecco BEFC Man of the Match versus BFC.
