New BEFC Vice Captain, Social Secretary and Ladies Captain as BEFC expands

  • BEFC Vice Captain Jorge Marenco and BEFC Ladies Captain Teresa Iniesta

Over the course of the 2014/15 season BEFC has been reorganising and expanding itself as a club, under the new management. As part of our bi-annual General Meeting we discussed the need for some more members to take up important positions in the club to assist and be part of our continual expansion. So BEFC are proud to announce Jorge Marenco as a Vice Captain, and Teresa Iniesta as Social Secretary and BEFC Ladies Captain.

Jorge has had a huge involvement in BEFC since he joined last season, bringing in a number of new players and being involved in all aspects of the club. It was only appropriate he was the man for the task in helping Ben, Keith and Ewan run the management side of things. As a Vice Captain (along with Ewan) this involves among a lot of other things, communicating with the TML for games, competitions and player registrations. Deciding on policies, helping in selection of match squads, and match day substitutions and of course taking up the Captain's role in his absence.

Teresa has been highly influential in stimulating the social side of BEFC, especially in including not just members but friends and partners of BEFC in BEFC activities. A plan at the beginning of the season and a member request was for more social activities, which BEFC had been working on, but really needed more involvement to manage. Teresa will be looking to organise non-football events for BEFC and friends. We're taking suggestions in the forum, so if you have an idea let us know.

Also as BEFC only current female member and player, Teresa wants to put together a BEFC Ladies Team to join a Tokyo football league. BEFC strongly support this. There is a difficulty for non-Japanese speaking women to find a football team and league to play; and hopefully we can do something about it. Creation of the BEFC Ladies team is in the works and so if you are interested in playing, helping out or know some people who would be interested get in touch with Teresa.
