Adecco MVP BEFC vs Pumas - Taka Yoshida

  • Adecco MVP vs Pumas Takahiro Yoshida

After the disappointment of losing the Cup Final last weekend, BEFC quickly recovered to gain a valuable point against Pumas in a hard fought encounter. If nothing else, BEFC learnt from the mistakes made during the final and proved that the 4-0 scoreline did not reflect the quality of our team.

BEFC started the game with a more compact 4-5-1 formation, trying to disrupt Pumas' style of play and making impossible for them to penetrate our defence through the middle of the park. Tim Wivliet, Nils Simon and Alo Sakk never let Pumas midfielders in forcing Pumas to look for other ways to attack BEFC defense...with little success.

BEFC drew blood in the first half after a clear foul on Tsukasa Katase in the penalty box. Katase himself calmly slotted the ball at the back of the net for a well deserved 1-0. Despite not conceding any chances in the first half, lack of concentration allowed Pumas to score after a counter attack right on the last minute of the first period.

BEFC stuck to the plan and were hardly troubled by Pumas apart from one header that hit the post of BEFC's goalkeeper Yu Sasada. BEFC could have won it at the end when Katase found himself in front of goal but his left footed shot was well saved by Pumas Goalie.

A lot of nominations for Adecco MVP award but as there can only be one winner, this match’s award goes to Taka Yoshida. Playing in an unfamiliar centre back position, he was a rock in defense, not allowing Pumas strikers to get any clear looks on goal and helping the full backs when they overloaded the flanks. For his great defending, constant encouragement and tireless effort, Taka Yoshida is the Adecco BEFC MVP vs Pumas.
