Adecco MVP BEFC Lions vs Albion Old Boys - Ewan Walton

BEFC Lions wanted revenge against Albion Old Boys after losing early in the season 3-1. Recent form has been good, and the team have come a long way since that first match. However, the Lions knew it would be tough to beat the Old Boys on their home pitch.

The day was hot, and the afternoon game ensured that subs would have to be used.

Things did not start well, after a loose pass from defence was intercepted in mid-field, and a long-shot was able to beat the goalkeeper.

However, by the end of the first-half, the Lions had equalized, after Viran, Tim and Tetsuro combined well up-front, with Tetsuro’s shot beating the opposition keeper from just outside the box.

The second half did not see the Lions play well, and we conceded two easy goals to succumb to another 3-1 defeat.

With nothing left to play for this season apart from pride, more emphasis was being given to allowing players fair time on the pitch. This didn’t work to our competitive advantage, as the lack of a clear plan meant that many players weren’t sure what position they needed to be in. Therefore, a clear system will be put in place for each game from now on.

In a game where many players suffered from the heat and/or hangovers from the night before, one player was crucial to the stability of the team. Making a cameo performance, Ewan Walton commanded the midfield and is the Adecco MVP for this match.
