Adecco MOM BEFC vs JETRO - Kaz Fushimi

  • Adecco BEFC Man of the Match Award - Kaz Fushimi

The early moring start against JETRO didn't start well with traffic and train accidents stopping players getting to the pitch before kick off. Nor was it a good day for the debutant Ririo Oshima, who after setting up the first goal was sidelined with a nasty hospital worthy injury in a crunching knee tackle. However this bad fortune wasn't stopping BEFC's play on the pitch where the team performed some great football and team play. Even the defence finally figured out how to play out from the back with some nice and smooth passing deep around their own goal. This match was a total team performance but just like Connor MacCleod (for those Highlander references still make sense) - 'There can be only One' - Adecco BEFC Man of the Match. And amongst many different nominations and comments of great play across the squad, one man was literally all over JETRO.

Due to the late arrivals, Kaz Fushimi started out covering right back, and as well as shutting down JETRO's attempts mainly focused on the left wing, it was his howitzer throw-ins that repeatedly put the fear into the JETRO defence. Then when relief arrived, he moved up to right midfield to harass and attack down the flank as well as shutting down his side of the pitch on the defence. At half time when the Captain took over goalie duties Fushimi exchanged roles with Omichi and dropped in Defensive Midfield to complete a very strong midfield connection and bridge with the center backs. It could possibly be this magic combination that finally got the link up play flowing out from the back and into the midfield in a series nicely shaped diamonds across the pitch. In the second half the movement and passing was really humming as BEFC sliced their way again and again up the pitch. His mean streak also showed well as the combination of Säkk, Witvliet and Fushimi fully dominated the bossing of the middle of the park to the perfect level with the ref asking them to calm down, but not really able to book them for anything either. Simply was JETRO couldn't handle the intensity whenever they stepped in the center of the park.
So with great play by the team all over the pitch, one player played great in different roles all over the pitch, and that Adecco BEFC Man of the Match vs JETRO is Kaz Fushimi
