Adecco MIFA Ladies Futsal MVP - Namiho Takeda

  • Adecco BEFC MIFA Ladies Futsal MVP - Namiho Takeda

On a rainy and cold Sunday afternoon, BELFC took part in the MIFA Ladies Competition which was the second tournament for as many weeks for our Ladies team.

This time, the competition was in a more familiar 5v5 futsal rules which certainly suited BELFC style of play and tactics. Watching the players positioning and passing, it was obvious that they felt more confident playing on a smaller pitch, the weekly evening training sessions at the British Embassy pitch definitely paid off as BELFC showed a very competitive spirit with great all-around performances from many of our players.

BELFC started the tournament with a well deserved 1-0 win displaying a high tempo game, with a full court pressure which left the other team with no answer. This victory was followed by a draw and a spectacular 2-0 win which gave our players the confidence they needed to perform at a high level.

BELFC competed in all matches and took their opponents to the limit and were unfortunate not to qualify for the last 4 playoffs due to some unlucky posts and some debateable calls from referees - especially the goal scored by host team MIFA when stand-in goalkeeper Iniesta was still building the wall after a free kick and their striker shot on goal before the referee whistled (and yes, they asked for a wall).

BELFC finished the tournament in a more than respectable 6th position after dominating the 5th place play off only to lose on a PK.

Many individual performances are worth highlighting. Izzy Jasper played a pivotal role in defence and was a rock which no player from opposing team could pass. Jasper also showed great calmness and clever passing from the back which gave the team a sense of order and organization. Teresa Iniesta had to deputise as goalkeeper again and following her performance at the previous tournament, she showed glimpses of Schmeichel like moves in one-on-one situations which left strikers with no answer.

But the MVP of this tournament has to go to Namiho Takeda. Takeda was a constant threat for the opposition, giving a master class in how to play the striker role in futsal. Great ball control, quick turns, lightning speed and fantastic finishes. She scored 3 goals in the tournament and hit the post 2 more times, showing everyone what a killer instinct she is developing. Namiho was also showing a true BEFC spirit with numerous tackles and intensity and definitely leading from the front. For her outstanding performance Namiho Takeda is the Adecco BEFC MVP for the MIFA Futsal Competition!
